Market of Biofuels/Feedstock |

The market for biofuels was provided with the signing of the Biofuels Law in January 2007. The law mandates the use of biofuels particularly biodiesel and bioethanol. The mandatory use of biodiesel has been in effect since May 2007 for the 1% biodiesel blend in conformity with Philippine National Standards for Biodiesel. By 2009, upon the recommendation of the National Biofuels Board and approval of the DOE the blend will increase to 2% blend of biodiesel by volume subject to domestic supply and availability of locally-sourced biodiesel component.
For bioethanol, there is voluntary 10% blending at present and supplies are available in various gasoline stations like Seaoil, Shell, Petron, Chevron and Flying V. The mandatory blending for bioethanol will take effect on January 2009. Oil companies shall be allowed to import bioethanol in the event of supply shortage of locally-produced bioethanol. |
