  CONCLUSION

At present, the biofuel production in Malaysia will be palm oil based. Government supports are needed in order for the biodiesel industry in Malaysia to grow and sustain. It is not expected that all the licenses granted for biodiesel plants will be translated into actual plants, but how many will actually be built will depend on whether overseas demand is sustained, the price of petroleum diesel and the price of palm oil.

Whereas for the biomass technology for the energy and fuel production whether for the local scale , SREP or on the global scale for the reduction of the GHG are still being researched and are not expected to feature significantly in the short to medium term. However the biomass fuel obtained from the agricultural waste or by-product can be used for power generation and it is competitive in price and quality with existing fossil fuel. The share or penetration of the biomass in energy mix in Malaysia will ensure the security and supply of the energy for the economic growth. Government needs to introduce new instruments to remove and reduce barriers in implementing the Renewable Energy in Malaysia. Commitment from various sectors; government agency and private sectors is essential to enhance and promote the use of renewable energy.
